Creating new things while allowing God to create a new me!!

Monthly Archives: January 2013

The first time I put the mail organizers on my Etsy shop I wondered if anyone would even be interested.  They quickly became the most popular item and sold out.  I was pleasantly surprised.  Today I decide to get a few more on there. So after about 10 hours, lots of staples, hot glue and a trip to the fabric aisle…….they are back!!!

Secret confession time.  I have never been a big fan of Valentine’s Day.  Don’t get me wrong I am a big fan of telling people you love them and all the reasons you do, but I never understood why we waited for just one day to do it.  I did enjoy it in grade school, giving my friends cards and notes, but as I got older it just felt more insincere.  To me it meant more to get flowers, gifts, a fun date, or sweet card on an ordinary day rather than a day set aside where you “had to.”  So as I was thinking about Valentine’s Day ideas I began to think about something like this.

I love the idea of anyone in the house being able to use it at anytime.  From something as simple as “you make great pancakes” to “you wipe away my tears.”

We all need to be reminded of what it is we do that means the most to those around us.

I hope this ends up in a home where it will get daily use and will help the love to grow.

For Christmas I asked for tools. Yup tools. My father is very generous with allowing me to raid his shop when I want but I am very sure that it would be most helpful and less annoying to him if I had a few of the essentials. So when I opened the drill, electric hanger and the staple gun I was delighted. And let me tell you I have already gotten my use out of them.

The latest projects have been my jewelry hangers. Between the sander and the drill Santa has already gotten his money’s worth.

I love starting with an old piece of wood and seeing what I can do with it.
These were fun to make and I can’t wait until I get all the knobs I ordered in the mail to make new ones.

New in my ETSY shop.  www.etsy.com/shop/OneHairCreations

GOOD NEWS!  AS OF JANUARY 18TH, 2013 THERE ARE NOW NEW MAIL ORGANIZERS IN THE SHOP.  CHECK THEM OUT!

Confession time:  I had a mail problem.  It would be on the couch, on the kitchen counter, on the chair by the front door.  When it was time to pay bills I would have to walk around the house collecting all of the mail and sorting through it.  And yes on occasion something would go missing, get wet from the sink, or ripped.  About two years ago I began to look for a solution to this issue.  I didn’t really have any place to set a mail organizer so all of the ones I found didn’t really work for me.  I didn’t want to add anything to the counter top.  Yet I had the perfect space for it to hang right by the front door.   I have loved it ever since.  I walk into the front door, sort the mail into the separate pockets and leave it there until I need them.

I made a pocket for “to pay”, “to file”, and “personal.”

Today I created some that are now available in my Etsy shop for others to enjoy as well.  Of course I tweaked them and improved them based on my own.

I love how these turned out and the best part is they can be made any colors or patterns to match the decor of the house.
