Creating new things while allowing God to create a new me!!

Monthly Archives: October 2013

The quest to restock my OneHairCreations shop continues.  In the process of my remodel I was left with a few old cabinet doors that needed a new life.  Add in some left over chalk paint and the latest creations have been produced. These great little chalk boards add a fun decorative touch to any room and can be used for so many different purposes.  I love these and may or may not have a few around my house.  :=)

One of the down sides of being “homeless” for a couple of months was having to let go of my Etsy shop for a little bit.  I had some inventory on it and continued to sell things during that time, but I was unable to make new things or come through on some of the custom orders people were looking for.  Thankfully the time was short and I am officially back in business.

Over the last few days I have been able to add some inventory and get back in the swing of this thing.  Now I am once again reminded how much I love what I do.

This weeks newest additions to https://www.etsy.com/shop/OneHairCreations….

More to come soon.  It’s so good to be back.

Lord it’s in your hands!!!

When buying my first home there were a few things that were must haves.  A laundry room was never one of them.  After eight years of hauling piles of laundry down dark and dingy basement steps, towel wrapped trips to the basement when I was already late because I didn’t muster up the energy to go down there the night before, and several floods that meant I would need to rewash all of my laundry…….it was on my must have for the second house hunt.  I didn’t need anything super large or beautiful, just something on the same floor as the bedrooms that would not require trips into a dark and wet space.  Moving the laundry up out of the basement was a definite must have.

Here it is in all it’s adequate glory.  Nothing wrong with it, perfectly functional, and ready for just a few simple improvements.

I admit part of me thought that If I made the room more inviting and a little “pretty” doing laundry would be more inviting.  Well it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try right?  I love the final result and it was a fairly simple project.

After painting the walls I attacked the builder grade oak cabinet doors.  Sanding, painting and adding colorful knobs made a huge difference.   A very easy way to freshen up the space without the expensive of replace perfectly good cabinets.

Annie Sloan Pure White chalk paint waxed and sanded made these letters one of my favorite parts of the whole space.

I’ve been looking for a very long time to find an old wood hanger that could be hung from the ceiling for use as a place to hang air dry clothes.  It became a frustrating and fruitless journey.  However while walking through Goodwill this very cool wine rack caught my attention and ended up being a great alternative for the ladder.  (Still have eyes open for that ladder)

For $3.99 it seemed like a risk worth taking.

I am loving this room already.  Okay part of that is probably because it is the only complete room in the new house, but it has proven a pleasant place to wash and not having to trek down the basement steps has proven to be as good as I had once dreamed.
