I always love spring break. It is like a breath of fresh air before the chaos of testing season. This week has been wonderful. Crazy busy but very productive. There is one big problem however. Way too much free time for thrift shopping. Way too much.
Yesterday I took a trip to the Habitat for Humanity store (love that place). While there I found this little gem.
It was just crying out for a face lift and a new home.
The first thing I did was remove the decorative trip at the top. The top piece was sturdy but was going to be hard to refinish so it was clear that this coffee table would be the perfect ottoman. After a good sanding I pulled out some yellow paint that has just been waiting for the right project.
It took three coats of paint to give it this richness in color.
I then cut a size of foam cushion that would cover the top and made it slightly larger so that it would wrap around the edge slightly.
Now……here comes my favorite part. I have been seeing this new printed burlap everywhere and I have been waiting for just the right time to pull it out.
I LOVE this fabric and it works so well with the paint color. I WILL find a way to use this again.
I decided to keep the same hardware and just paint it black.
After distressing the piece I then used Velspar Antiquing gloss. This really added the antique old look I was going for.
I love the transformation from the original to the new.
Lord it’s in your hands!
